Our prayer circle facebook (see below) has been home to many wonderful prayers for animals. Recently Lesley Smyth posted a prayer that moved me so deeply. In case you are not yet on the facebook, I wanted to be sure you would be blessed by it. This is her prayer that she says each time she passes a field with farmed animals in it.
"For each animal in this field awaken one person's compassion. Thank you."
Lesley explains, “I find it helps me cope with the horror awaiting those beautiful creatures. Instead of slipping into despair I see the energy flowing out into the world tweaking at people's hearts.”
I try to remind myself whenever I walk or drive past farmed animals in fields or long metal buildings that I must send love and joy to them and not the anguish I initially feel. I learned from volunteering at animal rescue shelters that if I feel sorry for the dogs waiting to be found after a tornado or flood, they become more restless. Instead, if, while walking past them in their separate cages, I think of how safe and warm and well fed they are, they are much calmer. Unlike most human beings, animals are still connected to the energy field of emotion that emanates from us. So I believe we can definitely send them peace and joy and, as Lesley suggests, we can also radiate a powerful intention to awaken human compassion.
We can also use Lesley’s prayer when we see trucks full of animals on the road. Thank you, Lesley for this tender, gentle prayer.
Thank you for your faithful prayers and visionary thoughts. Thanks to all of you, compassion is encircling the earth for all beings. Thank you for your devotion to truth, love, liberation and peace for all beings.
With Love, peace, and gratitude from Judy, and Will, Madeleine, and the Circle of Compassion team.
