Happy news for a few wolf families
Wonderful News: the Idaho Department of Fish and Game (IDFG) has announced that they have ended their wolf extermination program in the Frank Church Wilderness Area, thanks to the work of Defenders of Wildlife and other conservation groups. There was a trapper hired by IDFG to kill all the wolves who lived there to benefit elk hunters. He had killed 9 wolves since December, but he was called back and told to remove the traps and snares he had set.
But the domination mindset fights on
It’s just one spot on the map, but it means everything to the remaining wolves and their families. Meanwhile the Wildlife Agency of the USDA kills over 100,000 native carnivores each year at the request of big agribusiness. This is because the mindset of domination still remains. Without activists to notice each atrocity and find ways to stop them, imagine how much more destruction of life would have already taken place. Each one of us is so important in this work of protection.
Our work—to transform that mindset into compassion
But the work of protection and liberation will not end until the consciousness of humanity actually rises to its true calling. We (not just activists but all of us) are meant to be caretakers of the earth and of life, not destroyers. So our work is two pronged—we need to be ever vigilant to protect the innocent from human violence and domination and, at the same time, we must work and pray for the elevation of consciousness of every human being to a state of absolute compassion and love for all creation. When that day comes, our work is done.
Prayer of gratitude
This week, let us hold this prayer in our hearts: Light of the World, Love of the World, you have helped activists save the wolves of Frank Church Wilderness. Thank you. You give us the strength and the wisdom to know what actions to take to protect your precious, innocent animals from human violence. Thank you. And you give us the courage to overcome the violence in ourselves with love; to radiate the joy of living a nonviolent, vegan life; and the opportunities to help others and ourselves discover the truth of who we are—beings of light able to see the radiant, divine beauty in all beings. With you, we are bringing heaven to earth. Thank you. Our hearts sing with gratitude.
Thank you for your devotion to truth, love, liberation and peace for all beings.
Thank you for your faithful prayers and visionary thoughts. Thanks to all of you, compassion is encircling the earth for all beings. Thank you for your devotion to truth, love, liberation and peace for all beings.
With Love, peace, and gratitude from Judy, and Will, Madeleine, and the Circle of Compassion team.
