Franceen Neufeld writes in her book Suffering Eyes, “What has become of
me? More importantly, given what is happening to them, why does it
matter one bit what becomes of me?
It matters, because if I can no longer go on, then who will speak for
them? Who will rage for them? Who will grieve for
them? I will not abandon the suffering eyes.” Her words
capture so perfectly what we are all going through. And they
capture what this prayer circle is all about.
We help the animals with our prayers and focused thought for their
liberation. I do so strongly believe that they feel our love and gain
strength and hope from that. But we are also here to help each other
stay strong so that we never give up, and always, always give them a
voice and work for their freedom.
When you feel down or discouraged, one of the most uplifting things you
can do is listen to some good animal rights music. Paul Seymour
is one of our great singer/song writers for the animals, and he is sure
to put a smile on your face and sometimes a tear in your eye. You
can see him perform several of his songs on YouTube. I have
bought his songs and have them on my phone so I can listen to them
whenever I need a pick-me-up. It isn’t just his songs that uplift
you, it’s also the feeling of belonging to a community of loving
people. We’re not alone in this holy vision of freedom that we
carry with us wherever we go.

This week let us live in Love and Gratitude for music, for Paul
Seymour, for the many vegan musicians who give the animals a voice
through song and who give us encouragement and strength for the
journey. And because music is the universal language, may all
animals feel the rhythm, harmony, and the love that vegan musicians are
sending out to them as we work, sing, pray, and know that one day they
will all be free. And, as I said last week, dear animals, we will
not rest until your songs can once again be heard upon this
earth.
With Love, peace, and gratitude from Judy, and Will, Madeleine, and the Circle of Compassion team.
