Greetings of love and gratitude from
Judy Carman
Behind the Scenes of the Holidays.
School children across America are busily making pilgrim hats, paper
turkeys, and preparing for their Thanksgiving plays.
Perhaps some of them saw the movie “Free Birds,” in which the turkeys
the pilgrims want to kill for Thanksgiving, take matters into their own
wings and win the battle for their freedom. If they did see the
film and if they were able to comprehend the profound message of the
film, perhaps they are questioning the barbarism and the irony lurking
in every home where a dead turkey lies in the fridge or the freezer.
Meanwhile, out of the 300 million beautiful, intelligent, affectionate,
and fully aware turkeys who are killed in the U.S. each year with no
legal protection, 45 million are being killed for Thanksgiving and 22
million will soon be killed for December holidays. Many will be
oxymoronically labelled “humane.” This is a massive war against
innocent, defenseless beings.
This Week Let Us Pray for the Turkeys.
Dear turkeys, how we long to gather you all under the protection of our
arms, just as you have longed to protect your children under your
wings. Please know that, even though it may seem that not one
human being cares, we hear your cries. We know it is small
consolation that our hearts ache for you and tears come when we think
of your suffering, but we need for you to know that millions of people
are working ceaselessly for the liberation of your children and
grandchildren. We dedicate ourselves to opening the hearts of all
people to your beauty and your dignity and your right to live free and
joyful lives. We know that the Divine Energy of Love is moving in
all hearts and growing ever more powerful. We give thanks that
the day is coming when human beings will ask for forgiveness for what
they have done to you and say to you “Never again will we cause you
harm. Never again!” Dear turkeys, when we see your bodies in the
supermarkets, we honor and bless you. We bear witness to this war
against you, we live in solidarity with you, We See You and We Love
You.
As always, I send my thanks to each of you for joining this circle of
compassion and shining the Light of Truth for all to see, so that one
day soon, all beings will live in peace together.
With Love, peace, and gratitude from Judy, and Will, Madeleine, and the Circle of Compassion team.
