Greetings of love and gratitude from

The Annual Baby Harp Seal Killing Has
Begun. The killing started on April 12 in northeastern
Newfoundland, southern Labrador and the Gulf of St. Lawrence.
Animal rights organizations, are, as always, demanding an end to this
barbaric and senseless “tradition.” Many restaurants have joined
in boycotting Canadian seafood. I can remember marching and
protesting this hunt with my kids back in the late ‘70’s. Many of
you may have participated as well. The unfailing campaigns around
the world have succeeded in banning the importation of seal products in
several countries, including the European Union, the United States, and
Mexico. So there has been some progress and much of the world
agrees that wearing fur stolen from a helpless, innocent baby is
immoral.
This Week is Also World Week for
Animals in Labs and Earth Day is the 22nd. There has been
tremendous progress also on the laboratory front. Out of the 188
medical schools in the US and Canada, only two of them use animals in
their training, thanks to the work of Physicians Committee for
Responsible Medicine
(pcrm.org). According to Aryenish Birdie of
PCRM, 92% of drugs that pass in experiments on animals fail when used
on human beings. As awareness of that statistic grows, cruelty-free
methods of testing drugs are being adopted more widely. And
Earth Day celebrations around the world are giving activists an
opportunity to educate about the environmental devastation caused by
animal agriculture. Many people will make a commitment to
veganism on that special day.
As a Prayer Circle We Combine our
Prayer Power with the Actions Taking Place. Progress has been
made through the tireless dedication of activists all over the
world. Human consciousness is evolving in the direction of
compassion and reverence for life. I know it seems agonizingly
slow and painful as we consider those who are still suffering. But we
are witnessing miracles—the expansion of the circle of compassion and
the decrease of violence that many said could never happen. So
this week, let us go within and deeply feel the joy that comes from
seeing our kind and gentle vegan world blossoming around the
world. Yes--we grieve, but as we grieve for those still
suffering, we simultaneously feel the joy for those liberated.
That beautiful celebratory gratitude filling our hearts will help stop
the killing, open the cage doors, and enlighten millions of people at
Earth Day events. Together we can do this. We will see more
miracles.
As always, with tears of gratitude, I send my thanks to each of you,
dear Prayer Circle members, for joining this circle of compassion and
shining the Light of Truth for all to see, so that one day soon, all
beings will live in peace together.
May compassion and love reign over all the earth for all beings
everywhere.
Thank you all for your devotion to truth, love, liberation and peace
for all beings.
With Love, peace, and gratitude from Judy Carman, and greetings from
