Adorable Animal YouTubes Induce
Oxytocin. Lorena Mucke sends out a daily e-newsletter from the
Christian Vegetarian Association which she calls “Take Heart.” In it
she shares “devotionals, discussions, inspirational quotes, health
tips, recipes and much more.” Recently Lorena pointed out that
sharing YouTube videos of cute animals can increase compassion in
people. She noted that neuroeconomist Paul Zak, found that.
"Watching YouTube videos about animals can induce oxytocin release
causing us to engage in helping animals or people.” As we all
know there are thousands of videos online showing the cuteness of
animals which, in turn, demonstrates that they have feelings, play with
each other and other species, form friendships, and display a wide
range of emotions. While showing videos and films that reveal the
horror of what human beings do to animals is important, there has been
some evidence that some people become desensitized after watching
footage of animal cruelty. It is as if their brains find a way to
just numb their feelings about the animals. But, perhaps, it’s much
harder to do that if your oxytocin is engaged while watching animals
who pull at your heartstrings with their cuteness.
Prayer for the Week for Everyone to
Fall in Love with Animals. Action and Prayer is a powerful
combination. This week let’s all send out cute animal
videos along with captions about the importance of recognizing their
love of life and need to be free. And with each video or photo we
share, let us send it out with a prayer to carry it around the
world. May our actions this week find millions of open hearts;
may the videos and photos we send cause millions to fall in love with
animals as never before; may the joy that each person feels in viewing
the love that animals bring to the world call each one to a vegan life
of harmlessness and reverence for life. We give thanks that love
and compassion lie waiting within each human heart; waiting to be
awakened by the sight of animals themselves demonstrating just how much
love and joy they bring to the world.
As always, with tears of gratitude, I send my thanks to each of you,
dear Prayer Circle members, for joining this circle of compassion and
shining the Light of Truth for all to see, so that one day soon, all
beings will live in peace together.
May compassion and love reign over all the earth for all beings
everywhere.
Thank you all for your devotion to truth, love, liberation and peace
for all beings.
With Love, peace, and gratitude from Judy Carman, and greetings from
