Greetings of love and gratitude from Judy Carman

AUSTRALIA’S LIVE EXPORT TRADE IS “AUSTRALIA’S SHAME.” Susan, one of our dedicated prayer partners, has asked for prayers for the crimes against animals in an Australian industry that transports live animals in horrific conditions in ships to far away countries to be slaughtered. Susan states that “Animals Australia (AA), recognised as one of the 12 most effective animal charities in the world by Animal Charity Evaluators, has worked tirelessly to ban this insidious trade” which they call “Australia’s shame.” Their under-cover footage has helped spotlight the horrors of this practice, and she says, “the local population has come to see this industry as one of abject horror.” The animals in these ships suffer terribly and many die en route. “When they reach their destination, such as the Middle-East, they may then…, be tethered onto the roof top of a car, or crammed into the boot of a car… a tethered animal may even be decapitated with several cuts from a blunt knife, while being conscious.” They lack adequate food and water and often are beaten to death or cut multiple times while fully conscious. So far, the government is ignoring the cries of the people and animals to end this terrible practice. Susan agrees—this is “Australia’s shame.”

PRAYERS THIS WEEK FOR AUSTRALIA’S SUFFERING ANIMALS AND FOR THE END OF ITS LIVE EXPORT TRADE. Susan, who has volunteered with AA, believes there are hopeful signs, but in addition to action, she asks for prayer. In her sweet words, she says, “I believe, a prayer from you will go far, in more ways than one.. Knowing the benefits of meditation, visualization, prayer, good will, compassion, I believe, your contribution to ending this industry, in the way of prayer, will contribute to seeing an end to this industry.” Gandhi said that prayer is one of the most powerful forces in the world. This week let us send enormous gratitude to all the AA activists as they forge ahead with their extremely difficult work. May they feel our love, our gratitude, and the strength we send to them as they carry on. And let us together carry all these animals in our hearts as they endure this horrible journey. Dear Animals suffering under “Australia’s shame”, we hear your cries. There are many people near you who are working to end your terrible suffering. Those of us who are far away reach out to you, spirit to spirit, and we pray for your liberation, for relief, and for an end to your pain, fear and sadness. We pray and know that there will come a day soon when your children will never be treated this way and human beings will finally see who you really are. You are our sacred brothers and sisters, spiritual beings just as we are. With you, we pray with all our hearts, may the shameful live export trade end now. May all human hearts and souls be awakened to your beauty, your sacredness, and your right to live free. And may it be so--now and forever.
