Greetings of love and gratitude from Judy Carman

CHEMICAL SAFETY ACT WILL SAVE HUNDREDS OF THOUSANDS OF ANIMALS. A dear friend to us and the animals at Physicians Committee for Responsible Medicine (PCRM) was present in June when Obama signed the Frank R. Lautenberg Chemical Safety for the 21st Century Act into law. This law will save hundreds of thousands of animals from being tortured with horrible, corrosive and toxic chemicals. Because of this law, labs will be required to use animal free methods to test many chemicals. Not only will this prevent animal suffering, but results of the tests will be more accurate regarding their toxicity to human beings, since animal tests mislead scientists and the public. Animals differ from humans in enough ways that often a substance that is safe for animals is toxic to human beings and vice versa. If you called Congress to urge passage of this law, you were in the company of 80,000 compassionate people who called or emailed. Our friend cautions us by saying “our work is far from done. Animal experiments are still widely used by pesticide, pharmaceutical, cosmetics, and other consumer product industries... Today's historic victory demonstrates that the future of science can also be cruelty-free.”

PRAYERS FOR CRUELTY-FREE SCIENCE AND LIBERATION OF ALL LAB ANIMALS. We give thanks for PCRM’s hard work and the persistence of all those who called and emailed. It worked. The Chemical Safety Act is now a law. We give thanks for one more sign that human consciousness is rising. Gratitude and joy fill our hearts as we think of the suffering that will be prevented. And yet, in the depths of our being, we know that so many animals still languish in labs and suffer at the hands of those who have lost their precious sense of kinship with the animals they harm. Together we claim the truth—that the labs that still hold animals hostage—will have to stop all animal experiments once and for all. We can see it becoming self-evident very soon, that experimenting on animals is morally wrong and shameful. Together, we send out the light of Divine transforming Love to all animal laboratories, the people who work there, and the animals who suffer there. This light and love carries away the darkness, fear, ignorance, violence, and greed. Yes “science can be cruelty-free.” It is happening. With prayer and action we are getting closer to freedom for all beings everywhere. Dear animals of earth, may all human hearts and souls be awakened to your beauty, your sacredness, and your right to live free. And may you and your children live free—now and forever.
