And Our Prayer for the Week from Judy Carman
WORLD VEGAN DAY IS NOVEMBER FIRST: This special day was
first celebrated in 1994 to commemorate the 50th anniversary of the
establishment of the UK Vegan Society in 1944, as well as the coining of the
word “vegan” by Donald Watson in that same year. The progress that
has been made since the founding of the Society is truly astonishing. The word
“vegan” is now a household word, and we have vegan products,
bakeries, restaurants, thousands of cookbooks, and hundreds of vegan
organizations that did not exist in 1944. We have so much to celebrate, and we
have much to do. One of our missions now is to educate people about the deeper
meaning of vegan. It is so much more than what we eat. It is a way of life that
aims to eliminate all forms of confinement, cruelty, use, and killing of
non-human animals.
THIS WEEK’S PRAYER--TO SHARE THE BEAUTY AND WISDOM OF VEGANISM
WITH EVERYONE
John Robbins wrote "I look out into the world and I see a deep night of
unthinkable cruelty and blindness. Undaunted, however, I look within the human
heart and find something of love there, something that cares and shines out
into the dark universe like a bright beacon. And in the shining of that light
within, I feel the dreams and prayers of all beings. In the shining of that
beacon, I feel all of our hopes for a better future. In the shining of the
human heart light there is the strength to do what must be done."
May that beautiful love and sacred light that dwells in every human heart
become so powerful and shine so brightly that all eyes will finally see the
cruelty our species has perpetrated against all other species. And seeing that,
may all be filled with compassion and a burning desire to seek justice and
freedom for all beings. We give thanks for the great progress that has been
made and for all the actvists who have brought animal rights this far. And we
ask for help to demonstrate how beautiful the vegan life is. May every human
being on the planet join us on this sacred journey toward Vegan Peace for All
Beings. May Divine Wisdom, the animals’ grace, and our true hearts guide
us toward ahimsa, peace, liberation, and lovingkindness for all. May “the
dreams and prayers of all beings” come true.
May Divine Wisdom, the animals’ grace, and our true hearts guide us
toward ahimsa, peace, liberation, and lovingkindness for all.
As always, I send my thanks to each of you, dear Prayer Circle members, for
joining this circle of compassion and shining the Light of Truth for all to
see, so that one day soon, all beings will live in peace together. Our prayers
for all animals continue to circle the earth, to uplift humanity’s
consciousness, and to bless the animals themselves. Thank you for joining
people around the world who are praying these weekly prayers as well as the
Noon Prayer.
With Love, peace, and gratitude from Judy Carman, and greetings from Will,
Madeleine, Tara and the Circle of Compassion team
