ON AUGUST 6 PEOPLE EVERYWHERE WILL BE PRAYING FOR PEACE as
the anniversary of the bombing of Hiroshima and Nagasaki is commemorated. From
history.com we read “On August 6, 1945, during World War II (1939-45), an
American B-29 bomber dropped the world’s first deployed atomic bomb over
the Japanese city of Hiroshima. The explosion wiped out 90 percent of the city
and immediately killed 80,000 people; tens of thousands more would later die of
radiation exposure. Three days later, a second B-29 dropped another A-bomb on
Nagasaki, killing an estimated 40,000 people…” Seventy one years
ago, caring people were horrified by the bombing, and the words “Never
Again” were heard around the world. The number of animals killed is not
mentioned, but there were no doubt many thousands. The destruction of habitats
and poisoning of water and air affected anyone who was still alive. The words
of so many wise teachers continue to ring out—We cannot have world peace
for people as long as human beings are exploiting and slaughtering animals in
an endless war against them. Indeed, by ending the war against animals, we
simultaneously bring an end to wars against people.
THIS WEEK’S PRAYER OF “NEVER AGAIN” FOR ANIMALS,
PEOPLE, AND THE EARTH. As we draw near to this annual day of
remembering these atrocities and longing for real world peace, we mourn, not
only the terrible losses and suffering of the people and animals who lived
there, but we also acknowledge the cruelty, violence, and selfishness that
dwells in the human psyche. We give thanks that, within the heart and soul of
humanity, there also dwells lovingkindness, nonviolence, and compassion. Deep
within each one of us there lives a sense of kinship and reverence for all life
that is longing to be set free. It is our plea, our prayer, our cry, and our
vision that wars against people, animals, and the earth will very soon come to
an end. We know in our hearts and our spirits that human beings can reach this
revolutionary tipping point and evolve to become the new kind human,
“Homo Ahimsa,” as I call us in Peace to All Beings. We have
absolute faith that every big and little thing we do in Love never disappears
but lasts forever. Cruelty and violence cannot survive in a world overflowing
with Love. That is what we are creating day by day, prayer by prayer, action by
action, book by book. The tipping point is near. The Love you bring to this
work in your actions, thoughts, prayers, and visions is making it happen. .
As always, with tears of gratitude, I send my thanks to each of you,
dear Prayer Circle members, for joining this circle of compassion and
shining the Light of Truth for all to see, so that one day soon, all
beings will live in peace together.
May compassion and love reign over all the earth for all beings
everywhere.
Thank you all for your devotion to truth, love, liberation and peace
for all beings.
With Love, peace, and gratitude from Judy Carman, and greetings from
